Harmony lives in the heart of the city, a place of safety under the protection of the Teachers, so her request to have Ferran bring her out of the city entirely and across the countryside to the dangerous area known as Reclamation makes him uneasy. She is like the others who live in the city’s heart: so filled and surrounded by love that she is oblivious to the harm an evil person can inflict, both emotionally and physically. Perfect love casts out fear, they say. But there are reasons to fear in Reclamation—and even more so beyond the Reclamation zone in the wilderness known as Twilight. Ferran has seen the danger firsthand. He grew up on the edge of the Reclamation zone. The Teachers have all but abandoned Twilight to the wicked. Yet, when Harmony hires him as a courier for her and her mysterious parcels, he is compelled to say yes—if only to be at her side and protect her. But things are not quite as they seem. Harmony has a secret.
